From Pain to Peace: Dreading Good-bye as I Face My 101 Year Old Mother’s Mortality

I used to wish my mother gone. Now I fear the day she leaves me. Forgiveness changed our story—and my life.

I was wondering how Mom reacted to my latest Substack essay, “From Wishing Her Gone to Dreading Goodbye.”

I live in fear of that moment—walking in to find her gone. The thought terrifies me. But she speaks of death with peace, reminding me that God will give me strength.

Nearly 20 years ago, I discovered the secret to finding forgiveness, and it changed everything. That journey is told in deeply personal documentary Look at Us Now, Mother!
Viewers of the film and my talks kept asking for more—wanting to understand the full story behind the transformation. That’s what led me to write my upcoming memoir, Bullied to Besties, which goes deeper than the film ever could.
