101 Year Old Mom’s Must-Have Tips for Bathroom Safety

In this episode of Mildred’s Mindset book series, my 101-year-old mom shares the simple upgrades that help her stay safe and independent.

nother episode of Mildred’s Mindset: Wisdom from a Woman Centenarian

This ongoing video series shares real tips from my nearly 102-year-old mother, Mildred—taken straight from her book Mildred’s Mindset: Wisdom from a Woman Centenarian.

In today’s episode, she talks about staying safe in the bathroom. After breaking her shoulder, she made a few smart changes that helped her stay independent:

– Grab bars near the toilet and in the shower

– A seat and a handheld nozzle for the shower

– And her emergency alert device (which she keeps close by, even when she can’t wear it)

As she likes to remind me: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Her book is full of simple, practical tips like these, along with stories and reflections from a life well lived. It’s available in all formats, including Audible—narrated by Mildred herself (yes, Brooklyn accent included).
