From NBC's Today Show to on stage at Amway Center with singer/songwriter Jax
My Centenarian Mother Has Been Discovered
My nearly 100 year old mother, Mildred Kirschenbaum, (birthday on August 25th) has become an icon or as Gwyneth Paltrow wrote on Maria Shriver's thread, a legend. My mother is thriving as she is a couple of days away from being centenarian. She is still living alone, playing cards, goes to Happy Hour regularly, drives, manages her stock portfolio and uses Geek Squad when she has issues with her iPad, iPhone or computer.
Other than slowing down in her walking, she's still a force to be reckon with and she has gathered many fans along the way. (Over 82,000 on IG alone and many videos have gotten several million views and shared many times over). Her fans want to know her secret to longevity.
I wrote this piece about her social media rise that was originally published at AARP's The Ethel. She's been featured online on major platforms including NBC, FOX, Daily Mail, Yahoo, and NY Post.
The singer/songwriter Jax (she wrote the Victoria Secret song) discovered my mom and asked to make a video with her. I flew down to Florida and drove mom to Amway Center in Orlando. Jax is on tour and was performing there. She wrote a duet song (she is SO talented) that they recorded it (see below).

Here’s the final song
Then Jax invited mom onto the stage. There were close to 20,000 people in the audience who sang Happy Birthday to my mother. Not bad!
And more has happened since.
Stay tuned!
